“The SCIENTIST” V Edition

International Videoart Festival

Festival dates: 14.15.16 October 2011 - Ferrara, Italy

VIDEO SELECTION  (International, national and local)

We are interested in any kind of experimental video based on the relationship between moving image and sound with an innovative impact in audiovisual experience .

The festival is NOT a competition.

VIDEO ENTRY PROCEDURE / DEADLINE

The entry form with all the required information, should be first sent via e-mail to

info.thescientist@gmail.com  by august 31, 2011

and then in printed form via airmail along with a DVD by august 31 (post-marked)

Please use a separate entry form for each video submitted.

LIMIT OF RUNNING TIME

There is no limit of running time for video submitted but the curators prefer short duration.

PREVIEW COPY

A DVD copy is expected to be submitted for preview purposes (in PAL Format), accompanied by a printed entry form.

The DVD should be sent to the Festival’s postal address.

In case of a total lack of DVD copies, we can accept a MINI-DV copy (in PAL Format), but in that case please contact us via e-mail first.

GENERAL INFORMATION

“The SCIENTIST” 2011 is a non-commercial festival. There is no entry fee for the artists and no entrance fee for the spectators to the screenings.

There is no competition department and there are no prizes.

PHOTOGRAPHS

We usually ask for photographic and publicity material of all the video in the programme to use in the festival website. Photos or stills can be sent only through e-mail (web resolution, 72dpi or more, gif or jpg format).

CATALOGUE

The catalogue will be published for this edition, a memory of  five editions of THE SCIENTIST videoart festival.

SCREENING COPY

Video are screened in DVD format (Mini DV PAL format is accepted if a DVD is not available).

Please specify if the tape is in 16:9 format.

AUDIOVISUAL RIGHTS

As a cultural, non-profit, entrance free festival of a very low budget, we must prevent any problem with the screening rights of the selected films.

Each authors is the unique responsable for the image and soundtrack of his own video/film.

“The Scientist 2011” directors,  curators  and the “Ferrara Video&Arte Cultural Association” decline any responsability in order to the audiovisual right for the video/film screened during the festival.

SCREENING SCHEDULE

It is entirely up to the festival to take decisions on the schedule.

SHIPPING - RETURN OF THE DVD

The preview and screened DVD,s can’t be sent back to the applicant.

The DVD copies will be stored in our videolibrary archive for local, non-profit cultural purposes.

VIDEOMAKERS & GUESTS

We would love to invite all filmmakers but, unfortunately, we are a young non-profit festival and we do not have the budget which would allow us to invite you all and assume your hotel costs.

However, if an artist can find resources to cover their travel expenses through an institution in their country, we will be happy to provide any official letter required.

And in case someone wants to attend the festival and is willing to pay one’s own fares, we can help them find low-price accommodation in Ferrara.
